Broccoli is known for being a superfood. It has few calories, but is rich in nutrients and antioxidants that support many aspects of human health.
Broccoli is a good source of fiber and protein, and contains iron, potassium, calcium, selenium and magnesium, as well as vitamins A, C, E, K and a good range of B vitamins, including folic acid.
Broccoli originated in the eastern Mediterranean and Asia Minor, was grown in Italy in ancient Roman times, and was introduced to England and America in the 1700s.
